Are you ready, Dear COVID Generation Child?

“Are you ready, Dear COVID Generation Child?
The day you start thinking that you are the only one anxious about going back to your routine, well, consider yourself in a smaller body, consider yourself a child!

In one of my interviews, I said, Don’t you worry about those kids, the COVID generation; they will end up loving school, loving to socialize, loving life, loving nature… they will be the generation of change, and this generation will and shall be the generation that will protect our environment, world, and life on earth!

I truly believe so, but this does not mean that we need to help them link back to reality like all of us.

Well, the days of PJ bottom and the dressy shirt are about to end; we are all about to go back on the field, push our way back into the social network without fear, and embark on pushing the start button for LIFE!

As adults, meeting, shaking hands, hugging, and probably kissing; while as children, as much as they will be the future, they, as well, will be the source of re-launching, innocently, the virus and its variants.
Between wearing the mask and shield, and forgetting it, dropping it off the nose, and probably the mouth, and/or dropping it totally because they miss running on the field and feeling the air, or missing putting that shiny lipstick, or wanting to eat comfortably… well, partly this is it, but are they ready to re-launch socially? this is the question!

In my book, MOMMY, I AM A PACER, I discussed issues that tackle social and emotional troubles that children go through and how to facilitate helping them. The book was written after a long experience as Peace Education Coordinator, instructor, and Middle School Director. During this phase, I witnessed invisible pain caused by the children to other children, the worst part was when we had to label this phase “BULLYING”, and the harshest was labeling the children, Bully, Victim, and Bystander. In the end, this vicious circle was caused by a series of pain caused to a child that made him in return cause pain to another, while proving authority since it was snatched from him!

In short, this is the story of children, no, not my book, the story of bullying, labeling, and pain. Therefore, I wrote MOMMY, I AM A PACER, the book of five short stories that address those day-to-day issues, and approach the way children feel while leaving room for the child to express his situation and feeling by co-illustration, when reading, with the author.

So, Do you have one of those, a child going back to reality?
I invite you to give him the gift that will help him overcome situations while being an ABIGAIL, the main character; and making a change in his community while being a PACER and showing Perseverance, Agility, Clarity, Empathy, Respect!”

Connecting with People

“Connecting with People…The Truth About You!
When adults connect with each other, they always try to find common grounds.
When children connect with each other, they directly move forward to togetherness.

What makes children change, what makes them grow into the details of status, ethnicity, race, religion…
What or who wakes the demon in angels, if you believe as I do, that children are all born angels, and life situations
works its course to change them.

The way I see it, it is very normal for children to start changing. Sometimes it is the community that includes parents, and other times it is the curiosity to explore who they are, but they change, they get affected by direct and indirect treatment that in return, will make them change and change the way they deal with others!

Sad? Very! but…

As parents, perfection does not exist, and truly, I wish parenthood came with a handbook. & since characteristics filters from one generations to another, so does emotional pain. If you think you outgrow abuse of any kind or lack of attention by parents, trust me, you may pretend you do, but deep inside, it is there.
If you think you can outgrow bullying and mistreatment, trust after years of clinical therapy, you will learn to understand, and deal with emotions, but pain, and the memory of pain, cannot be erased.
If you think that as a victim of abuse, bullying, and mistreatment, try thinking about the bully, and how they will take the remorse feeling to the grave.
& if you thing that a bystander minded his business, regret will haunt them, and it will be a life challenge for them to get over the fact of not getting involved to stand in the way of preventing or supporting the victim…

However you turn the triangle of bully, victim, bystander, it will always have three angles; and however you try breaking the pain, it is a vicious circle that will keep on rolling, until this one person stand early on in time, and breaks it.

So, people, let’s work on a better future, by caring for the little minds. Children should not pay the price of our past and pain. We, as adult, are the tie breaker, when we ensure we do not inherit our children the flaws we lived, and we secure they see flaws and know how to deal with them.

Can we? yes!”

What if parents played their role differently?

“What if parents played their role differently? a question that came to mind when watching the movie WONDER. It reminded me of the days I spent at school when I was the coordinator of the Peace Education Program and the director of Middle School.

Being the coordinator of Peace Education allowed me to work closely with the children. Not only I coordinated the program, but I had the honor of introducing it to my fellow colleagues and teaching it in the classroom.
Can I say I only taught, no, we lived by example, breaking the law of justice to build empathy, breaking followers to empower leadership, breaking the right thing to ensure they do things right, and on…
As an example, the policy stated to send students involved in physical confrontation home, and suspend them for a few days, I believed in keeping them on campus the first time such incidents occurred, and let them go through the self-assessment process, away from their classmates, analyzing the situation, discussing the different solutions and reactions they could have proceeded to, and finding a mechanism to fix the situation among each other.
I used to involve other students in the process so the main student involved in the conflict does not feel isolated, and make of the situations lessons used to change the way we think, and mainly react.
Lengthy process, yes, time-consuming, of course, worth every penny spent on the education sector, yes, yes, and again, yes!

Did I witness change? I guarantee to you that between the Peace Education Program and my role as a Middle School director, I witnessed change among the different generations, and specifically with those who were facing difficulties.

& if you think Middle School was a crime scene, try elementary, or even pre-school… why was the question, why do you feel better when you hurt another child, why do you isolate other children and ban them from playing with you and your friends, why do you make fun of others and intimidate high achievers, why do you feel you are better than a child with physical challenges and learning difficulties, why do you judge, and be the prosecutor…

Why? it is the main question, and if you believe what I believe that all children are born angels, so this means that life circumstances changed them, and made them go through wanting to prove to the world that they are invincible and strong enough to hurt others, while deep down bullies are revealing one message, in my opinion, I NEED HELP!

Throughout my twenty-some years of experience working with children of different age group, from daycare to high school graduates, I tell you one thing, I saw pain buried in children, growing when not treated, but as well, I saw change transforming bullies and persecutors in leaders and Ambassadors of Change.

Did I do it alone? no. Children played a major role, fellow educators did, and of course parents. So going back to my first question what if parents played their role differently? Yes, I do believe that paying attention to every little detail and change in our child’s behavior, is the starting key towards understanding what they go through… teaching children to accept others as they are, not to judge, not to compare, and see other children eye to eye, among a list of many other things, is the only thing that will raise acceptance of self and others…
I end with one sentence, a standing ovation to all those who understand and accept that their children might be going through a phase and getting their emotions out at other children, and another standing ovation to those taking the lead in being Change Ambassadors in their community!”

Children, EMOTIONAL PAIN, emotional struggle, ignored, love, men, mindfulness, parent, partner, safety, shield, women

“There are actions in life that scar forever, and few among many, they lead to impacting one’s future, resulting, and without one knowing, to instability in relationships…
Are you one of them? men or women?
Are you causing them? father or mother?
Are you denying them? son or daughter?
Are you not talking about them? partner?
Does your ego stand in the way of acknowledging emotional pain?
Well, let’s discuss few points…
Did you ever feel that a parent or partner is not asking about you?
Did you ever feel that a parent or partner is not looking for you?
Did you ever feel that a parent or partner is not standing for you?
Did you ever miss someone hugging you or holding your hand?
Did you ever feel that you were not supported irrespectively of any actions?
Did you ever cry in silence?

When you know there is a gap, you have to believe it.
When something odd happens, do not take the blame simply to downplay situations.
When you are feeling low, intimidated, belittled, ignored, denied love, or respect, or attention, do not justify other’s actions, do not blame yourself, and do not enclose those emotions.
You may decide to confront, or runaway…
You may decide to forgive, or ignore…
You may decide to stand for yourself, or for others undergoing same situations, or not…
Not matter how strong one is on the inside, the emotions a parent or partner caused are real.
One can chose to build imaginary braces to hold them together, but, they need to remember what happened, and try to understand why they feel this way… YOU ARE NOT TRUSTING YOURSELF or YOUR PARTNER, and YOU ARE ALONE.

WELL, OTHERS’ ACTIONS CAUSED DAMAGE TO YOUR SAFETY SHIELD,
NOT ONLY YOU ARE NOT TRUSTING OTHER’S LOVE but as well, YOU ARE NOT TRUSTING THAT YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE and ARE CAPABLE OF LOVING!”
#MOI Speak Up, if not for you, for those going through emotional pain!
#Pain discussed is one among many, can you imagine how one could be feeling right now?!
