Those who touch our heart…

“Those who touch our heart…
Today was very special, I don’t if I ever told you, I used to work in a school, those among you who read my book would know, I was the director of the middle school, and generation after generation, I watched those kids grow physically, emotionally, mentally, I watched them overcome personal issues, those they bring from home and explode them on other kids, and other issues they develop due to facing others’.
Bullying was at the heart of the middle school, name it, it was there, physical, sarcasm, belittling others, isolation, on social media, in messages, among friends, you are my friend or will have no friends, and the list is still at the beginning.
I always felt that in the circle of the bullying crime, you have to cure the bully before the bystander and before the victim, since in my opinion, I viewed pain crawling out of him/her to feed their anger and dilemma; the bystanders represent a higher number among the crowd, they need time to build enough character to stand for themselves and others; and last the victims, although bullying hurts, but when surrounded by the right people, they will eventually heal their wounds, once they understand that bullies act out of weakness and pain rather than themselves being weak and wrong!
I used to call bullying the vicious circle… it is a long story.

Anyways, among the many I witness grow, there was this one child, who really had it bad! I and many around me worked very hard to help, unfortunately, he had to leave the school, and go struggle abroad, between his split parents. His departure broke my heart, I knew, at times we can only help a little, but as well I knew, that at least we were his serene community!
Days went by, and his news was only fading away, but he was always on my mind, and I always wondered whether he was able to find himself in the harsh world that he was born in.

I learned at least one lesson per day during school days, except this child taught me many!
Today, as I was in a coffee shop, trying to rest, this gentleman approached me, and said, Miss Badiaa, I am, I didn’t let him finish, I recognized him on the spot, I hugged him, and tears shed… he did succeed after a long struggle, he made it, and I thanked God for crossing his path with mine to put my mind at ease!

Dear parents, readers, and educators,
parents, try to keep your conflicts away from your children,
readers, this school was and still is among the best in the world, no we were not exclusive with bullying issues if you don’t know, every child goes through that cycle,
and educators, always remember that your role is far beyond the book!”

To this child, id you ever get across this article, as I told you this afternoon, I am so proud of you!”
#MOI the Author of Mommy I am a PACER! inspired by my days at school, when I was privileged to learn from those children and serve them to reach better days!

He wasn’t just a little boy…

“He wasn’t just a little boy, that boy in the class. I watched him grow and witnessed him struggle, but, I stood there watching!

It is the story, the story of bullying, not only written words in a book, or scenes taking place in a movie…. bullying is the reality our children live on a daily basis.

Observe your children’s behavior, the changes in pattern, in dress code, their eating habits, the playing routine, their friendship… bullies will not admit their actions, victims shall not confirm the pain, and bystanders will live with regret!

The bullying disease that took over for generations, will not stop overnight… where does your child fall, under which category? Can you encourage them to speak up?
You may be able to protect them periodically, but the change should happen from within!

The rule of “you are my friend. or will have no friend!” is the statement that we need to push our children to stop using…
The statement of “you cannot attend my birthday” when a whole class is invited except few, is in the hand of adults to set the tone to their children by saying, you either invite the class or only a few, and remember the birthday is a memory for our children to enjoy and not to tease the left outs…
The sarcastic attitude that intimidates a child and humiliates them is forbidden, our child might be outspoken, beautiful, with high skills in academics or physical activities, but the other children have special abilities as well…

Let us help our children take pride in self for what they have and do, but be humble enough to praise others for their achievements and help them reach their potential.
Call it teamwork, call it integrity, honesty, loyalty, respect, responsibility, humility, empathy, compassion, agility, perseverance, humility, fairness… I call it, help them become a PACER!

Mommy, I am A PACER! is a book of 5 short stories for parents and children. The book targets the incidents children survive on a daily basis, and help them, through co-illustration with the author, solve them and freely discuss them when they see the main character Abigail go through the same incidents.

Life is not a book, but at times knowing that someone knows how we feel will help us acknowledge, express, and deal with our own feelings. Hope you get to have your own
and help your child change and be the change in his/her community following ABIGAIL’s footsteps.”

“You are the change… simply because you are different!

Tell that to your children when they are going to school, tell them, today is the day they will make a difference in someone else’s life, simply because they are different, they will not fear to accept others as they are, they will not ignore the bullying taking place around them, they will not leave a child behind, and they will stand by righteousness!

Tell them to join Abigail’s journey and make their world a better place!”

Abigail is a girl who made a difference in society by being a PACER. Each book represents one of the letters of the word PACER and the attributed characteristic and discusses a specific value that I invite children to acquire, in addition to a day-to-day situation they live. Through these books, children will learn how to deal with different situations.
So Abigail, the main character, showed Perseverance (Book 1) by persisting in her efforts until the dog and his owner felt comfortable and welcome in the new community they moved to and gained many friends;
She showed Agility (Book 2) by being ready for change, able to preview others’ actions and make quick and successful decisions;
She showed Clarity (Book 3) by resolving her conflicts with her friends through talking openly and honestly;
She showed Empathy (Book 4) by recognizing that Joseph was having difficulties and by taking action to help him with these difficulties;
She showed Respect (Book 5) by acknowledging and accepting key strength in each of her friends.
Abigail invites each child to join her and become a PACER.

“Teamwork, friendship, agility, support for others, family, & joy… a peek at
I GOT AN AWARD! short story #2 in MOMMY, I AM A PACER!

Mommy, I Am a PACER!
I Got an Award!
The Story of Agility
This book is about the letter A in PACER: AGILITY. Agility is the ability to anticipate
change and act quickly and pro-actively.
I urge you to read this book with your child, at least once. Live it with him, and encourage him to do the activity at the end of the book.
I hope this book changes your life, as being a PACER changed mine.
Dear Child,
“I invite you to use your imagination and co-illustrate the book with me.”
Badiaa Hiresh

I play soccer with the school team. The nice thing about my team is that we welcome
kids to play with us from the neighborhood. Those kids become our friends. We share the
same soccer ball together and the same outfit and our group of friends becomes bigger.  I don’t know about you, but I love to have lots of friends! Do you have friends?
………………………………
Getting close to the final game of the season, Coach Roger asked us to join him on the
soccer field one day before the match.
He ordered pizza to the field, and he placed blankets on the grass where we sat and had
dinner. Then he said: “I am sure you are wondering why we are dining together on our field. Usually, people dine together as a family and as friends at home.
Tomorrow, as you play, I want you to remember that this is your home. You should be proud of what you have accomplished, regardless of the results. Play for you, for your friends and family, have fun but defend your home.
I am proud of you, and here is your award!”

“Truth be told, every child needs to live in a comfort zone, be happy, feel loved,

enjoy friendship, be respected, be heard, etc…

I don’t need articles to dictate their rights, yet, I am glad they exist to remind the world that

children are the seeds of tomorrow fruitful tree, and the leaders of our peaceful world!

What are we teaching those seeds, when surrounded with unexplained crime and injustice?

Adults steal their life, security, safety, happiness, joy, they take away their loved ones in unexpected

situations, they live drama, trauma, and fear… they steal their dreams!

Help your child remain positive while surrounded with a deteriorated community, help them speak up,

help them express their emotions, and mainly hold their hands to become a PACER, and not bystanders, not living

invisibly, silent, or in fear!

Mommy, I am a PACER! a book of 5 short stories for every child, read it with your child, illustrate it with them, & help

them survive everyday concerns by following the lead of Abigail, the main character!”

During Conflicts among Children, 7 becomes just a number!

“During Conflicts among Children, 7 becomes just a number!

Believe it or not, it is very difficult for a child to be left behind, it is not a matter of my child likes solo activities, when a child prefers his own company, it means that this child is either resisting to fit in or refraining from facing others and conflicts… both not healthy for the child if not dealt with.
MOMMY I AM A PACER! a book that deals with children’s difficulties and encourages them to change their behavior and be the change leader in their surrounding.
Some children are leaders by birth and other follow by example and that example is ABIGAIL, the main character. In the paragraph below, Abigail’s Grandpa was helping her solve conflicts with her friends by following the seven steps of conflict resolution.
I encourage you to buy the book for your child, read it yourself, and with him/her, and watch them change and express themselves through actions and co-illustration!
Enjoy!
“Seven becomes just a number once the conflicts are solved.
Step one: remain calm while talking.
Step two: ask your friend about the reason behind the conflict.
Step three: listen carefully
Step four: repeat what your friend has said to ensure you heard properly and show them  care to know the reason.
Step five: tell your friend how you feel, peacefully.
Step six: discuss a way to maintain your friendship in respect to both of you.
Step seven: if you cannot reach a solution, call an adult to help.””

“I am thankful for…
Despite the fact that my birth brought tears and not joy due to the loss of mom…
Despite the fact that early childhood was an inquiry phase…
Despite the fact that my adolescence was missing guidance…
Despite the fact that as a young woman I struggled to build the house of my dream…
Despite the fact that I divorced after 20 years of marriage…
I am thankful for the inner-strength God blessed me with…
I am thankful for the beautiful and successful daughters that were not affected with the trauma of my life…
I am thankful for the joy I was able to secure for me and those around me…
I am thankful for the love I was and still able to receive and give for everyone unconditionally!”
