Life was never a rainbow, nor was it ever a box of candy. Yet it had its moments, countless memories, and, thankfully, a selective memory that let me choose what to keep and what to bury deep.
Doors closed, and many others opened. I always found the light, kept dreaming, built new memories, and lived purposeful days. Except for the one time a door closed after taking a cherished soul with it.
That was the first time I ran. I ran far and away, dismantling a moment I could not bury and memories I could not erase.
A letter to you, I am writing, wondering about the connection.
