The truth is rarely one thing. Silence can be:

• Fear, when the body shuts down before the mind catches up.
• Self‑respect is when you refuse to waste your voice on someone who has not earned it.
• Strategy, when you know that reacting in the heat of the moment would burn more than it would illuminate.
• A freeze, when the nervous system says “not now,” even if the heart wants to roar.
